RIM to release Blackberry 10 on January 30

RIM the floundering mobile handset manufacturer is set to release Blackberry 10. They will announce the first two smartphones set to feature Blackberry 10 on January 30 2013, with retail stores stocking them soon after. The operating system has been delayed and was scheduled to be released in 2012 but had been setback a few times.  This has seen companies like Apple and Google’s Android phones taking more of a share in handset sales from RIM the Canadian company.

The launch is set to be on schedule, as more than 50 carriers have began testing the models in October.

The CEO of RIM Thorsten Heins has said: “Our team has been working tirelessly to bring our customers innovative features combined with a best-in-class browser, a rich application ecosystem, and cutting-edge multimedia capabilities.”

RIM will now have even stiffer competition in the market with Microsoft now unveiling their latest Windows Phone 8.

The new platform is also certified for use with government agencies.  This is the first time a Blackberry system has been certified before launch.  With organisation dropping Blackberry systems for other mobile options this should stop the tide of losing corporate accounts.

The revamped system will have a new interface.  You can obtain five home screens with quick launch icons at the bottom for making calls and frequently used items like contacts are also available.  There will also be two modes to separate work and personal usage by the use of profiles.  Blackberry hub also allows you to view all your messages even from your twitter account.
